Our Blakeney seal trips offer a unique opportunity to experience the Norfolk coast from the water as you travel by boat from Morston Quay out towards the protected sands of Blakeney Point. During the trip, you’ll explore one of the UK’s most important coastal nature reserves, home to a thriving colony of grey seals and common seals and their pups in, especially visible during the breeding season (breeding season June to August). Depending on the tides and time of year, you may see seals hauled out on the sandbanks, pups resting close to their mothers, and a wide variety of coastal birdlife along the shoreline. Blakeney Point is a truly special place due to its remote, unspoilt landscape and its designation as a protected area, which helps preserve its rich wildlife and natural beauty. All trips are carried out with great care to ensure minimal disturbance to the seals and their habitat, following strict environmental guidelines so visitors can enjoy this incredible wildlife experience responsibly.

See Seals in Blakeney
Seals can be seen around Blakeney Point throughout the year, making it one of the most reliable places in the UK to enjoy coastal wildlife. You will have the chance to spot grey and common seals resting on the sandbanks or swimming in the surrounding waters. This is one of the reasons why Blakeney has become such a popular destination for seal watching in Norfolk.
Peak Season for Seal Watching in Blakeney
While seals are present year-round, certain times of year offer particularly special experiences. During the spring and summer months, large numbers of seals can be seen hauled out along the shoreline, often in groups basking on the sandbanks. As the month of June arrives the seal pupping season begins and lasts until around the end of August. At this time, visitors may be lucky enough to see young seal pups alongside their mothers, making it one of the best times to visit for a truly memorable wildlife encounter.
Best Tides and Times to See Seals
Tides play a crucial role in how and when seals can be seen. Seals tend to gather in larger numbers on exposed sandbanks during low tide, where they come ashore to rest. As the tide rises, they gradually return to the water, which can make them harder to spot. For this reason, boat trips are often timed to coincide with favourable tidal conditions, giving you the best chance of seeing seals up close. Checking tide times or booking a guided trip ensures you experience the best possible seal watching conditions in Blakeney.
